Autobahn | Kraftwerk

We are driving on the Autobahn

In front of us is a wide valley
The sun is shining with glittering rays

The driving strip is a grey track
White stripes, green edge

Now we’re switching the radio on
From the speaker it sounds

After seeing Steve in Denver for lunch we headed to Washington Park. It is a nice place with a bike trail and garden. There is also an area to play lawn bowling and croquet.

Not too far from there the Nav listed a soda place. I was thinking pop but it turned out to be ice cream sodas. I got grape and J.P. got the raspberry. He had them use the ice cream topping instead of the blue raspberry syrup.

The place is done up 50’s style with the neon strips above the bar. The bar is raised up with stools. It’s standard retro.

We parked a couple blocks down the street. Looks like we’re going to walk back in the rain. It’s a lot like Seattle sprinkle.

The Bachelorette Party

Wednesday, July 4th, 2007

Friday was my bachelorette party. Marina was trying to keep it a secret but on Thursday she couldn’t want to tell me.

We went to the Can Can in Seattle. It’s in a basement space at Pike Place Market. I had so much fun!

Marina, Fran, Sam, and Kris were there. We ordered calimari and a spinach salad for appetizers. Then it was macaroni and another pasta for dinner. They all had brought me gifts. I hadn’t expected that so it was a great surprise.

The best part was the show. It was a group called Cabagazm. I’d describe it as trip-hop and dance music. The style was burlesque and cabaret meets Michael Alig done in interpretive/modern dance.

The music was a little too loud but that is typical. There wasn’t any nudity but there was plenty of nearly naked men and women with pasties. I can’t even really describe it other than to say there was dancing, lip syncing and a contortionist. I ended up missing that bit because I went to the bathroom but Sam got a couple pictures of it.

I would totally recommend the place. Coming sometime soon they’re doing Cabagazm II. It was too bad a couple people couldn’t make it but I’d go again if anyone is interested.

Sam was kind enough to post some pictures. You can check them out Here.

After the show Marina and I went to pick up her roommate. So we spent a little time in a club with a salsa floor and a hip hop floor. Once we managed to leave we ended up getting tacos at the stand next to Wenchels doughnuts. I ended up getting home around 3am. J.P. was still up so I showed him the gifts I got.

SJP and Buffy

Wednesday, July 4th, 2007

Recently we got a Steve & Barry’s clothing store at the Everett Mall. When I heard they had Sarah Jessica Parker’s new clothing line Bitten I had to go. What drew me into the clothing line was price and style. The prices are fair but not super cheap and the look is stylish.

Tonight was J.P. bachelor party so I figured it was a good time to go shopping. I headed out to the mall around 7. The store is next to where the pet shop and shoe shine place was. So on the same end as the caramel corn stand.

When I walked in half of the first floor was taken up with Bitten clothing. I quickly found a couple shirts and headed off to search for what I had come for…a new hooded light-weight sweatshirt. There was a really cute blue one on the rack but only in medium. I opted for a different one in gray.

After trying them on I headed upstairs. About half of the upper floor is women’s clothing. I think most of it is the Steve & Barry brand. I didn’t find anything I needed there so I took a peek at the baby section. Before Amanda’s baby shower I might need to go back. There were a couple items I sort of liked but didn’t buy.

I headed back downstairs and purchased my items. The girls at the registers were talking about how the hoodie I got was cute and had just arrived.

Since I hadn’t had dinner yet I wandered to the food court. It was hard to get a feel for where I was with all the new shops. I haven’t spent much time there in years.

Thankfully the Ivar’s was still there. Clam chowder sounded good. I ended up getting a bread bowl. It was cute when the cashier said “bread bowl’s walking.”

Soup in hand I started back toward where I’d come in. As I passed a comic book shop I couldn’t help but look for the Buffy Season 8 comics. They had the first two on the shelf so I picked them up. They’re both second printings but I’m not sure that matters to me.

I came home and watched The Fast and the Furious Tokyo Drift while eating my soup. The soup portion was generous. They put the soup in a container and the bread bowl was separate. So got enough soup to fill it twice.

Once the movie ended I opened the comics. It’s to be continued obviously but it looks like Joss is finally going to write his Buffy and Xander love story. I heard his original idea for the TV series was that the two of them would be love interests. That didn’t happen but all the former loves in Buffy’s life are in LA so it’s a good time for the two of them to have feelings for each other.

I now need to get the third comic book. It should be out now or soon. For those of you who are interested the following characters have appeared; Buffy, Xander, Dawn, Amy, Willow, Giles, and Jonathan.
