It’s my Friday!

Thursday, March 22nd, 2007

I must be getting used to the liquid they pass off as coffee at work. I’ve been putting less sugar in. I’m nearly down to a normal (for me) amount.

Music I must get- Death Cab for Cutie’s Translanticism. I heard Expo 86 on the radio this morning and recognized the voice so I looked it up. Guess there is a reason that album is already on my list of vinyl to buy.

I didn’t buy a dress yesterday. I meant to blog about it when we got home but that didn’t happen. We ended up going out to dinner with Ben and Sam instead. We had mexican at Jalisco’s in Kirkland. It was pretty good.

Tonight we went dress shopping. I found nothing. We’re going to try to get to Bellevue Square tomorrow. I found something good looking on Arden B.’s website so hopefully they’ll have it in the store.

Dress

Wednesday, March 21st, 2007

I’m busy looking for a dress to wear to Aaron and Amanda’s wedding. Thanks to Andy and Victoria I’ve got more places to look. Good thing there’s a Forever 21 down the street from me. J.P. has said he’ll go with me to the mall tomorrow. I didn’t have to play the it’s my birthday card or anything. He just said he’d go.

Hopefully I’ll come home with something. The dresses are so cheap I might get two if two good ones exhist. Then I’ll have some to just wear places. I have so few good ones now. Well, there are two dresses in my closet right now. I purged a lot of not so good ones when we moved.

I guess the trick is buying ones that aren’t too trendy or strange. Plus I have better style sense now than when I bought most of the old dresses.

If I’m lucky I will get something that goes well with shoes I own. Finding shoes I like is such a long process.

I just fixed the time on this thing. It’s really not the 21st yet.

SHOES

Monday, March 19th, 2007

I was reading an article about online shoe stores earlier and they mentioned two new links I hadn’t heard of yet. I might be behind in this whole world of shoes but I just had to share. So Gap and Amazon each have their own separate shoe sites.

Maybe I’ll find a good deal and actually buy shoes instead of missing the deal. I tend to wait and forget. I should buy them when I first discover them.

Where’s the reset button?

Monday, March 19th, 2007

It would be nice if today could just start over.  It started off fine, but went down hill from there.  In the car KUOW had a story about foot binding in China.  It gave me a really weird feeling.  Then I listened to Coldcut when I got to work.  That didn’t help matters.

I switched tunes and things were fine.  Then around 11 I suddenly got all stressed.  That triggered me thinking about having bought my dress yesterday.  I got totally confused when I walked into the store.  They asked I had my dress on reserve.  In my head I thought I did.

See when you go there they write everything down that you want on a form.  I thought they then saved it all together in a bunch so when I came back they could just grab it.  Turns out they keep the form and put the items back on the rack.  So the poor guy at the counter had to run off and find my stuff.

I thought I’d not gotten the sale price but J.P. says he saw it on the register.  On the receipt it just shows one price.

I’m just glad the whole nightmare of buying the dress is over.

So now I’m at lunch nearly an hour later.  I’m winding down after being stressed for maybe 15 minutes.

I had planned a nice, normal entry about needing more vinyl to spin.  Guess I’ll save that for tomorrow and post this one when I get home.

I’m really looking forward to this week being over!  Yipee for birthday dinner!

Compline

Monday, March 19th, 2007

And now for something normal. We went to Compline tonight. This time we remembered to bring cameras. Hopefully I got a good picture or two.

We are enjoying post Compline conversation at our usual haunt. Zoka is a little empty tonight which means it’s Sunday.

Tomorrow is another day. Work, work, work. Maybe we can play. I need a change. Saturday we eat breakfast with A, V, and T at The Dish in Fremont. That night we eat dinner with my Family at Arnie’s Restaurant in Mukilteo.

Friday

Sunday, March 18th, 2007

This is Friday.

So I wrote the thing about Zoka yesterday.

You’ve got to know what I’m talking about to know what I’m talking about.

None of it’s real or is it really?

Lines blur as caffine fades.

Welcome to my new blog.

If you believe any of that then you’ll be excited. Tomorrow is or will be the first documented venture into The Pre-Post-Zoka Movement.

I shall call this experiment 001. The theme song for this journey is Noah’s Toilet | Coldcut Let | Let Us Play.

“You’re in a place with a name like that place.”

Victrola- the talking machine. Words spill out. A movement begins.

Speak; drink; surf. My board’s a silver 12 inch. How about yours? Will we fall off or land on our feet sporting black?

Too much Coldcut to the brain.

The Zoka Movement

The Zoka Movement

It is unclear when the Zoka movement began but it is said to have been around 2003. It is widely believed that it was discovered by Thomas. It was then later re-discovered and popularized by J.P.

It began at Zoka in Greenlake. Over the years it has become know as Original Zoka or OZ for short.

There are only two recorded changes within the movement; the addition of University Zoka in 2005 and the later expansion of UZ. Zoka Movement followers now had two options for fulfilling their Zoka experience. UZ brought in more of the young college crowed while OZ kept the more quiet all ages atmosphere. This is what allowed members to move between multiple coffee shops while staying true to the movement.

The Zoka Movement was founded on the idea of being able to get together for good coffee in real cups, wireless internet, and food. All while staying out until midnight.

The Movement has survived by older members inviting new people to Zoka and claiming it to be a superior experience. Some of these new members have cried foul and are attempting to prevent more people from being lead into the trap.

Pre-Post-Zoka Movement

Some people consider present day coffee consumption to be in the Pre-Post-Zoka Movement. This consists of members of the Zoka Movement attempting to duplicate the original Zoka experience at other coffee shops. The Pre-Post-Zoka Movement is slowly taking shape as members of the Zoka Movement begin the journey forward toward coffee house utopia. They have met with little success but are hopeful that this will lead to the glorious and as of yet unseen Post-Zoka Movement.

Many members have become disenchanted with the Zoka Movement do to a decline in cups and saucers, good internet, and the addition of substandard espresso.

Some have given up on the Zoka Movement entirely stating that it is in fact dead and has been since late 2005.

Finally there are people who do not believe in the existence of such a movement. They often claim that the followers have had one too many Zoka bars and will in fact wake up suddenly, broke and highly caffeinated, wondering where all their time and money went over the past few years.

Members of the Zoka Movement say these people have simply eaten the salad in a plastic container available with their pannini and will come around once they have identified what the salad was.

Some members of the Zoka Movement have threatened to ex-communicate members looking for other coffee houses. They claim that leaving the Zoka Movement is in fact against the Zoka Movement and is therefore stupid. They also state that changes within the Movement are inevitable and claim they will wash their own cups and saucers if need be.

Some people are looking for alternatives. They have begun brewing their own coffee at home and others may begin roasting their own coffee beans but it is unclear wither this will be as addictive. These people are for the Post-Zoka Movement but see the failed attempts of others possibly leading to an apocalypse.

There is also a division within the Pre-Post-Zoka Movement. Some members have considered changing the focus of the new movement from coffee to baked goods and other pastries. The problem with this of course being a lack of such shops and differing opinions on who makes a better cupcake. Additionally, these shops are not open as late as required.

It must be noted that Top Pot Doughnuts is generally accepted as the best doughnut and coffee combination. It is also beats the competition by having internet.

While spending long periods of time away from Zoka members of the Movement have begun to question wither it was wise to begin the Zoka Movement in the first place. Their idea is that they all would be better off never having picked up a Zoka cup. This may have allowed them to become more productive members of society. They however, are eagerly awaiting the move to the Post-Zoka Movement and wasting more time in coffee shops.

The Post-Zoka Movement

Little is know about what the actual Post-Zoka Movement will be like. It is said it will consist of multiple coffee shops open late having real cups, internet, and food. It is also believed that members will be able to switch seamlessly between these coffee shops from night to night. Or perhaps multiple times within one evening.

One Man claims to have experienced the Post-Zoka Movement but was trampled by an angry mob of Starbucks followers before it could be proven. He has also been accused of paying for internet but cannot defend himself on the charge as he has now de-evolved into an ap
